How to play unusual files in Windows Media Player

After installing codecs A common issue that people have with unusual files is making them play in the player they are using. The following guide will enable playback of files such as .mkv .mp4 .ogm along with any others.

1. Right click on the file you want to play

2. Select "Open With"

3. Select "Select the program from the list" and click "OK"

4. Select "Windows Media Player" and check the box marked "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", then click "OK"

5. You will see a warning that the file has an extension that is not recognized, check the box marked "Don't ask me again for this extension", then click "Yes"
